+These series are some of the standard series used for resistor and capacitor values.  If you're looking for a particular resistor or capacitor, pick the appropriate series based on the tolerance and put the decimal place in the right spot.  All the values are organized over one decade.  For example, 287 for a 1% resistor could correspond to 2.87, 28.7, 287, 2.87K, 28.7K, 287K, 2.87M, 28.7M, or 287M ohms, possibly even higher or lower.
